How To Send Successful "Abandoned Cart" Emails

One of the most powerful types of emails you can send are abandoned cart emails.

In 2020, the average cart abandonment rate was 69%* which is HUGE!

Sending an email to customers when they have abandoned cart can help you regain this sales easily and effectively.

Her are some of my top tips:

👉🏻Use an email tool rather than the Shopify abandoned cart tool so you can fully design your emails and make sure they aren't clashing with any other emails you send - both newsletters/campaigns and other automations such as abandoned browse and welcome.

👉🏻Send 1 email shortly after the cart abandonment takes place (1 hour) and a reminder 24 hours later, if the customer hasn't already returned and placed an order.

👉🏻Include useful links in your abandoned cart emails to info such as delivery & returns, FAQs, size guides and contact pages, in case the customer has some unanswered questions.

👉🏻Split test different subject lines or designs in your flow to see what gets the highest open and click rates. Does including a brand image at the top of your email drive more click throughs? Or should you just feature the product abandoned?

👉🏻Do NOT include an offer in these emails as customers will quickly learn to trigger this behaviour to cheat the system.

If you have any questions on what tool to use to set up these emails, or want to know which emails your should prioritise after these, please get in touch.
